The University of Akron’s ongoing, campus renovation campaign, the “New Landscape for Learning,” has constructed or acquired 16 new facilities. These include two classroom buildings, residence halls, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Student Union and Honors Complex.
The campaign also has made 17 major additions or renovations, and added 34 acres of new green space to campus.
In August 2009, UA's Wayne College in Orrville opened its Student Life Building in time for the start of fall semester.
Next up on our new landscape is an on-campus football stadium with seating for 30,000. |

Exchange Street Residence Hall offers students a choice of shared single rooms, two-person or four-person apartment units. And the hall quad offers plenty of space for relaxing and recreation — including impromptu volleyball games.

InfoCision Stadium and Summa Field will open for the Zips' 2009 home opener on Sept. 12 against the Morgan State Bears.
The University’s 13th residence hall and ninth parking deck are under construction and scheduled to open in 2010.

The University also has expanded beyond campus to meet the educational needs of Medina Country residents. Doors at the newly completed Medina County University Center, an innovative workforce development center, opened to students in January 2008.
Since 2000, when the “New Landscape for Learning” campaign began, numerous renovation projects have also been undertaken. Among the latest — an addition to Guzzetta Hall that brought all of our educational programs in the performing arts — dance, theatre, music and arts administration — under one roof.
