Medina County University Center
A dream six years in the making became a reality when the Medina County University Center was completed and ready for spring 2008 semester classes. The 100,000-square-foot complex houses classrooms, offices and support functions for up to 2,000 students.
Community, business and educational leaders from throughout Northeast Ohio came together on March 17, 2008, to celebrate the dedication of this dynamic new component in the area’s continuing success in providing localized degree offerings, workforce training and economic development.
The result of a unique partnership between The University of Akron and The Medina County University Taskforce, this state-of-the-art learning facility not only meets the educational needs of Medina Country’s residents, but also the training needs of its businesses and industries. In addition to traditional classroom and laboratory settings, the center features a two-way audio-visual executive conferencing center — aptly named Westfield Insurance Conference Center in recognition of the organization’s generosity to the project — that will accommodate 150 people.
MCUC offers courses for associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, as well as stand-alone classes and workshops. Associate degree programs at MCUC include criminal justice technology, paralegal studies, business management technology, surgical technology, arts, and geographic and land information systems. A bachelor’s degree program in nursing and a master’s degree program in education also are available.
