Wayne College
Founded in 1972, Wayne College is The University of Akron's oldest branch campus. The original building, a sprawling facility, housed all classes and services under one roof in the midst of 160 acres in Orrville, Ohio.
Until August 2009, that is.
Wayne College's new Student Life Building opened for business just in time for fall semester classes.
Enrollment has increased 40 percent since Wayne College first opened, and the Student Life Building adds much-needed student and classroom space. It also is home to the Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
Other features of the 36,000-square-foot facility include a large multipurpose room for instruction, speakers and performers, and college and community events. A student center with a bookstore, dining facility, student lounge and offices for student organizations is housed in the new facility.
The design was done by Collaborative, Inc. of Toledo.
