College of Arts & Sciences building
At the time the College of Arts & Sciences building was dedicated in September 2002, it was the first major academic building in the New Landscape for Learning campus enhancement program to open for use by large numbers of undergraduate students.

| The building has several striking features, including a soaring four-story atrium. The sculptured art panels in the first floor lobby have symbols that are representative of departments in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences as well as the Akron community. Tucked behind the building is the Lewis C. Turner Amphitheatre. Its concentric, semi-circular bands of concrete offer seating for 200. The amphitheatre also features four, 22-foot-tall freestanding Ionic columns that were once part of East Hall. URS Greiner Woodward Clyde Architects of Akron did the design. |
The 127,200-square-foot structure houses classrooms, labs, seminar rooms and offices. It is home to these departments:
* Computer science
* Economics
* Geography and planning
* History
* Psychology
* Statistics
* Theoretical and applied mathematics
* Institute for Life-Span Development and Gerontology
* Psychological Counseling Clinic
* Center for Statistical Consulting
