Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectrometer

  • Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy is a technique that is used to study chiral molecules (molecules that have two mirror image structures). In a CD spectrometer, the absorption of oppositely circularly polarized light is used to analyze the vast majority of biological molecules which are chiral.
  • Applications: studies of large biological molecules - studies of secondary structure of proteins and DNA, development of new pharmaceutical products, biotechnology, medicine
