Mission & Purpose
Seeing the value of collaborating to plan a week of activities and programs to welcome the University of Akron’s new students to campus, the Office of New Student Orientation, in partnership with members of the First-Year Experience Taskforce, various campus departments, and student organizations is proud to present Welcome Week 2008 from Friday, August 22 to Thursday, August 28.
The focus of the Welcome Week Planning Committee is to provide programming and information that will assist students as they make The University of Akron their new home and to foster a sense of obligation throughout the entire University Community to take part in a unified effort to welcome new students to campus.
The week is packed with various events on campus that range from the Akron Traditions New Student Convocation to community service opportunities to the annual Greek Life Ice Cream Social. There's something for everyone during this incredible week! Be sure to look over the complete schedule of events below.
