



The School of Nursing awards nearly $150,000 in scholarship support annually.
School of Nursing scholarships are awarded once each year for fall and spring semesters.
Students must be in the College of Health Professions either as prenursing students or students admitted to the nursing major in order to be eligible. Eligibility criteria is unique to each scholarship.

New freshmen should submit a one to two page "application essay" (hard copy) to the Student Success Center, School of Nursing, Akron OH, 44325-3701 by April 1st or send an electronic copy to Dr. Rita Klein at rklein@uakron.edu
Essays should include information about yourself (including student ID), your interest in nursing, your experiences in the healthcare area and why you are an outstanding candidate for an award. Supporting information such as references may be included but are not mandatory.
Transfer students are not eligible to apply until their first spring semester on campus. They will submit electronic forms during the regular scholarship application period for the School of Nursing. Notices are sent out electronically to students in the college every spring.
These students are provided special instructions for scholarship application during their orientation to the nursing major. They are eligible for scholarship support starting fall semester.
All current School of Nursing students apply for scholarships during spring semester. The process is electronic and notice is sent out to all students via their University of Akron e-mail account.
