(330)972-5787 Ms. Cook assumed her current position as Assistant Vice President & Associate General Counsel for The University of Akron in 2005. In this capacity, she is primarily responsible for coordinating and managing pending and threatened litigation against the University, making recommendations to avoid risks, participating in the review and processing of subpoenas and public records requests served upon the University, and advising senior administrators on a wide variety of legal matters.
When she first joined the University in 1997 as an Associate General Counsel, Ms. Cook's duties included drafting, editing and reviewing most contracts entered into by the University and for reviewing significant purchases before they were approved by the University's Board of Trustees. She also advised senior university administrators on a variety of legal matters.
Prior to joining The University of Akron's Office of General Counsel, Ms. Cook served for nearly ten years in three different sections of the Office of the Ohio Attorney General (Education, Court of Claims, and Business & Government Regulation) where she gained a wide variety of legal experience in the areas of higher education, litigation and public sector issues.
Ms. Cook received both her Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor from The University of Akron. She lives in Medina with her husband, Frank, and their two daughters. |
