Student Testimonial

"As reflect on my study abroad experience, it reiterates all the reasons and more that the path I chose was the right one. From my first semester of university, I have heard from many of my peers how doing a term abroad was a great experience and is something I should consider doing before I graduate. Though I trusted their words, I still could not completely grasp how valuable the experience was to their lives. Now being home for almost two months, I am able to truly understand their words and why they recommended such a journey.

By studying abroad, I have been able to expand my knowledge and experience life in a different way. Now that I have lived in Copenhagen, Denmark for almost four and half months, I feel that I have a hold on the Danish culture. Though Denmark is an English-speaking country, their customs are different from the ones I am familiar with in America. In addition to engaging with the Danish, I have met people from all over the world with the same intentions as I have while I study abroad. These students are working hard towards their future, as well as enjoying their time getting to know one another and traveling around Europe. It is remarkable how similar we are to each other, though we have been raised in different parts of the world.

I am even more grateful to have such an opportunity to study abroad now that I have actually done it. It is an experience that cannot be replicated within your home institution. I was able to get accustomed to international individuals, travel to eye-opening sites, and continue to expand my education on a global level. I know that my time spent abroad has changed me for the better, in terms of how I value life and everything in it. This journey is more than I expected and I cannot stress how thankful I am to be able to experience it."  - Vyshnavi Sivakumaran
