Eligibility requirements and application procedures vary according to the individual program.
The following are the minimum eligibility requirements for UA exchanges. Specific programs may have slightly different requirements, in which case those requirements are indicated on the individual program information page.
The following materials should be submitted to the Office of International Programs no later than 5:00 PM on the application deadline.
For details regarding the eligibility requirements and application procedures for faculty-led and departmental programs consult available program materials and/or the faculty-program leader.
Like UA faculty-led and departmental programs, eligibility requirements, application deadlines and application procedures vary according to the program and/or program sponsor. Students should always consult the information published by the program sponsor for details. However, application deadlines generally fall sometime in March through May for summer, fall and academic year programs and September or October for spring programs.
Students participating in non-UA programs and requiring a signature on an Advisor Approval Form as part of the application should submit the form to the Assistant Director for Education Abroad and allow at least two (2) days for completion. Students should be sure to have their portion(s) of the form completed prior to submission and leave their name, UA ID and UA student email address for reference.
The Office of International Programs does not have access to student disciplinary records. Students should obtain a report from Student Judicial Affairs, located on the third floor of Simmons Hall, to submit with the completed Advisor Approval Form.
Incoming transient students are welcome to apply for University of Akron exchanges on a space-available basis. Fully matriculated UA students will be given first priority. In addition to the Education Abroad application, incoming transient students must apply to and be admitted by The University of Akron as guest students. More information on this application is available from the university’s Office of Admissions.
