Biography

Jim Sperling is professor emeritus of political science at the University of Akron. I began teaching at Akron in 1988 and retired in 2020.  I am coeditor of The Oxford Handbook on NATO (with Mark Webber) and The Edward Elgar Handbook on the European Union and Governance (with Sonia Lucarelli), both of which are scheduled for publication by the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025.  I continue to write and expect to do so into the (relatively) indefinite future.
