Initiatives University Park Alliance
The mission of the University Park Alliance is to revitalize the diverse neighborhoods in a 40-block area immediately surrounding the University of Akron. The Alliance was established through a major grant from The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and is comprised of community partners including the University of Akron, City of Akron, Summa Health System, Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, the Greater Akron Chamber, Akron Public Schools, and the University Park Development Corporation.
New Landscape for Learning
Our blueprint goes beyond dimensions anyone can measure. At The University of Akron, we're building a support structure for faculty and students who want to build the future. A place that encourages all of them to dream and dare and do the things that will make tomorrow's world a better place, and their roles in it more personally rewarding. That world includes our community. Our alumni. Our supporters. And you.
This new $200 million landscape for learning will include new buildings, improved campus access, and the creation of inviting, park-like open spaces. These goals will further The University of Akron's position as northern Ohio's leading public university. The Akron Advantage
A unique combination of initiatives, traits, competencies and past successes at The University of Akron give our students a competitive edge after graduation.
