Distance Learning Complaint Process for Out of State Students
Students have certain rights and responsibilities as stated in The University of Akron Bylaws (3359-42-01-C2, 3359-11-13, 3359-41-01, or 3359-24-02) and in the Student Code of Conduct (http://www.uakron.edu/sja/code-of-conduct.dot). The University of Akron distance learning students from out of state should attempt to resolve any issues or complaints with the University. For academic complaints, students are encouraged to contact the course instructor followed by the Chair of the academic department and the Dean of the College. If the proposed resolution is still viewed by the student as unacceptable, the issue may, in most instances, be directed to the Senior Vice President and Provost.
However, if an issue cannot be resolved internally, you may file a complaint with your State by referring to the following list of state agencies (http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/2144089.pdf). You may also contact our accrediting agency, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Higher Learning Commission.
