About the Provost Dr. William M. "Mike" Sherman is the Senior Vice President, Provost and Chief Operating Officer of The University of Akron. The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University. He works with UA's senior leaders to achieve UA's mission.   From the day potential students begin exploring undergraduate majors at The University of Akron to the day they schedule their last course, they will have access to clear program curriculum guides to support their progress.

  
  

• General Education Revision Report Released
  

  The General Education Revision Committee report to the Faculty Senate is now available for campus review.

• Provost to visit colleges throughout fall semester
  

  Beginning Oct. 29, Provost Sherman will begin his annual visits to the University's colleges and School of Law.  In preparation, please view a presentation on moving our University forward in today's higher education environment.

  Reducing risks to industry and raising prospects for commercialization, UA's Timken Engineered Surfaces Laboratories is a place where students, faculty and industry are partners in the process of discovery and commercialization of new products.
