The Collaborative Program in Counseling Psychology was established in 1983. To do so, resources already available in two separate departments, the Department of Psychology and the Department of Counseling were utilized. The Collaborative Program in Counseling Psychology offers a breadth of training unusual in many similar programs while serving two different student constituencies. That is, students interested in doctoral education following receipt of their Bachelor's degree enter through the Department of Psychology and students interested in doctoral education following receipt of their Master's degree enter through the Department of Counseling. In spite of these different entry points, the core curriculum of the doctoral program is shared.
