Biography

Dr. Tokar received his Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1993. His theoretical orientation is eclectic, drawing primarily from the humanistic, cognitive-behavioral , developmental, and gender-aware perspectives. Research interests include career development, personality and individual differences, counseling expectations, gender roles, and psychological measurement. He teaches Core III (Individual Differences), Objective Personality Evaluation, Clinical & Counseling Psychology, and Personality. His publications have appeared in Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Counseling and Development, Psychology of Women Quarterly, Career Development Quarterly, Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, and Journal of Career Assessment. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Career Assessment.
