Robert D. Haag

The Myths of American History: The Native American Story

Mr. Haag is the Economic Development Associate for the Village of Doylestown, Ohio, and Director of the Doylestown Area Development Corporation.  He retired as Director of Facilities and Housing for the County of Summit Board of Developmental Disabilities. Joanna (retired art teacher for Akron Public Schools) and he have lived in Chippewa Township and Doylestown, Ohio for 34 years. 

Bob started in Summit County government as a wastewater treatment plant operator (obtaining three Ohio EPA wastewater licenses) and was the first Purchasing Agent for Summit County Sanitary Engineers before becoming Purchasing Agent for the Summit County Commissioners and Council.

He left Summit County to be General Manager of Agri-Sludge Inc. one of the largest transporters and land applicators of wastewater sludges in Ohio, and located at Millersburg, Ohio.  Returning to Summit County government, for the next 19 years he worked as Purchasing Manager, Financial Coordinator, and Director of Facilities and Housing for the County of Summit Board of Developmental Disabilities.  In addition he served as trustee and president for the Community, University, Educational Buyers Cooperative (CUE), and obtained an Ohio Department of Education license as School District Business Manager.

In 2007 he completed a personal goal, writing and publishing Footpaths to Ancient Campsites in Copley Township, Ohio the prehistoric history of his childhood home. From 2008 through 2011 Bob compiled and published a three volume collection of early auctions of Indian relic collection sales. This three volume work provides collectors of prehistoric Indian art with thousands of artifact pictures and collector information within its 1000+ pages, and is included in the Smithsonian’s Library.

Mr. Haag received an A.A.S. in Business Management from the University of Akron-Wayne College, B.S. in Technical Education from the University of Akron, and M.Ed. in Administration from Ohio University.

Dr.Haag's Professional Experience include - 

2007 – 2012 Serve as P/T Economic Development Associate for Doylestown, Ohio & CEO Doylestown Area Development Corporation, Board member Northeast Ohio Behavioral Health LLC, author and self publisher of four books on Ohio archaeology; lecturer on personality types Kent State University and prehistoric Indian art and prehistoric Ohio at University of Akron Wayne College. Speaker, having performed over 80 talks to numerous organizations in NE Ohio. Past Board member Preservation Trust of Greater Akron. 

2002 – 2007 Consultant on leadership, budgeting, and strategic planning, served as facilitator for Voices and Choices NE Ohio, and conducted workshops on personality types. 

1997 – 2002 Served as Director Facilities County of Summit Board of Developmental Disabilities (CSBDD), and CEO Summit Housing Development Corporation combined budgets of $5+ million with 33 staff; retired 2002. 

1995 – 1997 Administrator Summit Housing Development Corporation, a 501c3 created by CSBDD to be land lord for developmentally disabled citizens.  Here, I worked with 15 support agencies serving 150+ developmentally disabled tenants, starting with 20 properties & growing to 46 when I retired. 

1991 – 1995 Coordinator of Financial Services for CSBDD, with a 40 million dollar budget and over 500 employees, licensed Ohio School District Business Manager.  I served as President for the Community University & Education Buyers Group (CUE); which had $60 million in contracts for 99 members. 

1983 – 1991 Purchasing Agent CSBDD, Trustee of Community, University & Education Buyers Group (CUE).
