How do I apply for benefits?
All eligible students must complete an application for DVA benefits. The Military Services Center will assist you with the completion and mailing of your application. Application materials and information packets for DVA educational benefits may be obtained from our office. Our office assists with the following DVA chapters:
Chapter 30 - Active duty Montgomery GI Bill
Eligible students:
- Have in most cases served at least 36 months of continuous active duty
- Have paid the $1,200 enrollment fee while on active duty
- Have an Honorable Discharge
- Have a total benefit package equivalent to 36 months of full-time enrollment
- Must submit a copy of their DD214 member 4 copy Chapter 30/34 - Viet Nam era GI Bill recipients benefits have been converted to Chapter 30
Chapter 31 - Vocational Rehabilitation GI Bill
- Eligible students have been determined by the DVA to have a disability rating
- These students have a total benefit package equivalent to 48 months of full-time enrollment
Chapter 35 - Survivor and Dependents' Educational Assistance
- Available to spouses and children of service members who have been determined to have a 100% military connected disability or are deceased due to a connection to military service
- These students have a total benefit package equivalent to 48 months of full-time enrollment
- Eligible students must submit a certified copy of their birth certificate (dependents) or marriage license (spouses)
Chapter 1606 - Selective Reserve GI Bill
Eligible students:
- Are those who are active members of the Reserve or National Guard
- Have a total benefit package equivalent to 36 months of full-time enrollment
- Must submit a copy of their DD214 member 4 copy and Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE). Those students also eligible for a KICKER should submit their KICKER contract
Chapter 1607 - Activated Reservists GI Bill
Eligible students:
- Are those individuals who were activated after September 11, 2001
- Have a total benefit package equivalent to 36 months of full-time enrollment
- Must submit a copy of their DD214 member 4 copy and Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE). Those students also eligible for a KICKER should submit their KICKER contract
