NIH POLICY ON PUBLIC ACCESS FOR PUBLICATIONS
Public Law 110-161 requires all recipients of NIH funding to submit an electronic version of any peer reviewed manuscript to the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed Central(PMC) upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication. Click HERE for more information. This regulation applies to all peer-reviewed article(s) that arise, in whole or in part, from NIH funding and are accepted for publication on or after April 7, 2008.
Beginning May 25, 2008, any applications, proposals, or progress reports made to NIH must include the PMC or NIH manuscript submission reference number when citing applicable articles arising from NIH-funded research. If these numbers are not included,
an award may be delayed or prevented, but the evaluation of the application will not be affected.
ORSSP will soon post guidance on how to comply with this new mandate. If you currently have publication(s) that require submission under the policy, please contact your grants coordinator.

URGENT NOTICE FOR ALL GRANTS.GOV USERS!
Federal agencies are beginning to replace the Pure Edge forms package with Adobe forms for submission via grants.gov. There is no notification on which announcements are using the new forms until the package is downloaded and opened. The new Adobe forms packages can only be successfully submitted if they are downloaded, opened, and completed using Adobe Reader 8.1.1 or 8.1.2. This is free software that can be downloaded by clicking HERE. ORSSP strongly advises anyone planning to submit a proposal for federal funding to download this software now and make it the default for opening Adobe files. Please contact your grants coordinator if you have any questions. Updated: 3/3/08 |
