University of Akron Research Foundation

The University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF) bridges gaps between industry and The University of Akron, facilitating the transfer of technology to private companies. It also provides intellectual property, commercialization and enterprise creation support to University faculty, staff and students, as well as Ohio entrepreneurs, innovators and business owners.

UARF is a single point of contact for industry, integrating research support services, including pre- and post-award contract administration, to facilitate compliance. As a separate corporation, UARF can engage in activities that state universities cannot, such as indemnifying research sponsors or holding equity in companies that license University intellectual property.

By streamlining the process for negotiating licensing agreements, administering contracts and procuring funds, UARF has increased UA licensing revenues from $270,000 in 2001 to $6.3 million in 2007.

To learn more, see the most recent copy of UARF's brochure.
