Residence Hall Handbook

DIRECTOR'S WELCOME

Live Akron, Live ON!

On behalf of the entire Department of Residence Life and Housing I would like to welcome you to our Residence Life and Housing website.

The mission of our department is to create a living-learning environment for UA students that is the foundation of their success. Our mission provides the foundation for the programs, services, and staffing we provide in the residence halls. Living in the residence halls is a significant part of your college experience that can help build life-long friendships and create lasting memories of the great time you will have as an Akron Zip.

To make the most of this experience, the Department of Residence Life and Housing is committed to providing a residential living/learning experience that supports your educational, social, and personal development. You will have plenty of opportunities to get involved and build relationships in your residential community, build leadership skills through volunteer activities like hall government, Residence Hall Program Board, and Residence Hall Council, and become more engaged in the overall campus experience.

We know from research and based on assessment specifically at The University of Akron that students who live on campus do better academically, graduate sooner, and have more interaction with faculty and staff than students who do not. We want you to make the most of your college experience by living on campus.

Please explore our website, ask questions, and visit us to learn more.

For campus tour information, please contact the Admissions Office directly at 1-800-655-4884. If you have questions related to residence hall living, please contact us at 330-972-7800.

We look forward to seeing you during your next visit to campus!
