Residence Hall Staff: They're Like Older Siblings Without the Rivalry

Each hall is staffed 24 / 7 by professionals and well-trained student employees.

A Resident Assistant (RA) lives on your floor and will help you make the transition to university life. RAs are chosen after an extensive application process and complete comprehensive training. At least one RA is on duty in your hall every evening from 8 p.m. - 8 a.m. The name, room number and telephone number of the RA on duty is posted at the service desk of each building.

The other person you'll meet is your Residence Life Coordinator (RLC). This full-time professional has a master's degree in college student personnel, counseling or a related field, and is responsible for your residence hall. The RLC supervises the RA staff in each hall and lives with you in the community. One RLC is on call for residence halls every evening. This is a good person to get to know.

Graduate Resident Directors (GRDs) are graduate students who live in and supervise one or two residence hall facilities. GRDs oversee the resident assistant and service desk staffs within their assigned residence hall(s) and provide leadership for hall government. GRDs coordinate administrative functions and serve on the department's 24-hour emergency response team.
