Purpose: To review the impact of the first field placement on skill development & knowledge integration, intentionally identify the skill set and knowledge level required in second field placement, review field processes to continue field education experience, and revisit professionalism

Purpose: To prepare new graduate students and part-time first year students entering their second year with processes and documentation required to secure a field placement for Fall 2014

Morning Session -10:00 a.m. - 12 noon General Program Orientation
Purpose: To jointly prepare new graduate students with an overview of the curriculum, program expectations, and provide an opportunity for students and faculty from both campuses: UA & CSU to meet and begin the process of relationship building
Students who should attend: Full-time Day/Evening and First Year Part-time

Purpose: This interdisciplinary orientation provides the expectations by the college and university of all students entering their field education experience. A variety of speakers provide insights into the biological, ethical, professional, and academic expectations of any, and all students utilizing pedagogy as their profession's method to socialize students to their profession.

Applying for a Social Worker Trainee License?* - free trainee license available for each academic year while active in your field placement.* Upon completion of application, contact Naomi White, your field coordinator regarding your application for trainee license in order for her to send an email to the CSWMFT Board verifying your educational and placement status with the School of Social Work. *A BCI (state) & FBI (national) criminal records check will be required to obtain your Trainee License - cost ~$60. for both. Did you know that Social Work students can purchase Professional Liability Insurance through the University for $20.00 per academic year?
Send or drop off a check made out to The University of Akron with Naomi White, Field Coordinator. Upon receipt and processing of your check, social work students will receive both an electronic version and a hard copy of a Certificate of Liability Insurance (Each claim- 1,000,000. & Aggregate - 3,000,000.). Beginning Spring 2014, the School of Social Work will encourage all students to purchase liability insurance.
