


The Student Recreation & Wellness Services Aquatic Program offers American Red Cross Group Swim Lessons for SRWC members & non-members. Lessons are offered for infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-age children as well as adults. Instructors are American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors.

Cost of classes:
30-minute classes (Parent-Tot & Pre-School): $35 for members & $45 for non-members
45-minute classes (All Youth levels & Adult): $40 for members & $50 for non-members

Please be reminded that as you are entering SRWS facilities for programming and activities with your child, you are required to adhere to the supervision guidelines of Student Recreation & Wellness Services:
Failure to adhere to these guidelines can lead to removal from the facilities and loss of future facility use privileges.

Classes offered include:
Prerequisite: Children 6 months to 3 years old. Infants must be able to sit up on their own before taking this class. A trusted adult(s) is required to accompany the tot at all times.
Fun activities are used to teach infants and young children to feel comfortable in the water while learning the very basics of breathing and floating. It is important to know that this program is not intended to teach children to become good swimmers but merely to gain comfort in the water.

In this level children will become more efficient in swimming both front crawl and backstroke while learning strokes such as breaststroke and elementary backstroke. Children will also learn open turns for both front crawl and back crawl.

Prerequisite: Children over 6 years old. Completion of level 4.
Participants in level 5 program will learn endurance and stroke refinement to improve on overall swimming technique. Along with building on stroke endurance of front crawl, backstroke, elementary backstroke and breaststroke, swimmers will also learn side stroke, butterfly and shallow diving into deep water.

In level 6 swimmers will continue to build on endurance and stroke technique through the introduction of new drills and swim equipment. Swimmers will also learn proper flip turns for both front crawl and Tuesday.
