The Aquatics program area supports the mission of Student Recreation & Wellness Services through a variety of class, program and recreational offerings.
The vision of the Aquatics program is to develop aquatic based programs and recreational opportunities that support a healthy lifestyle.
The Aquatics facilities consist of the Oliver R. Ocasek Natatorium (ONAT) and the Leisure Pool. The ONAT opened its doors to the University's students, faculty and staff in the spring of 1988. This $6 million, one-million-gallon facility houses the University's Olympic-sized swimming pool with deck seating for more than 400 athletes and spectator seating for more than 900 people.
The leisure pool, located next to the Ocasek Natatorium Competition pool in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, houses a 29-person spa, a warm water current channel, vortex pool and multiple bubblers. It is a place where students can gather to unwind from the stresses of classes. The primary purpose for this area is for student recreation and education.
All of the campus physical education swimming classes, lifeguarding, WSI, LGI, SCUBA, Kayaking, Water Fitness, Water Aerobic, Water Polo, aquatic Intramural programs and Adaptive Swimming Classes are held in these pools.
