STUDIOS

• Street shoes are prohibited on studio floors. Please wear a clean pair of athletic shoes. All footwear must be dry and free of dirt and snow before participating. Patrons are encouraged to bring a second pair of athletic shoes for their workout.
• Beverages permitted in closed, plastic containers only; food and gum prohibited.
• Profanity and vulgar language are strictly prohibited.
• Clothing or personal belongings must be placed in cubicles. Lockers are available throughout the building.

TRACK POLICIES

• Spectators not allowed on third floor running area.
• Walkers and slower runners use inside lane.
• Clean running/cross training shoes only.
• Patrons must follow direction sign.

GYMNASIUM POLICIES

• Street shoes are prohibited on wood gym floors. Only athletic footwear is allowed on wood gym floors.
• Beverages permitted in closed, plastic containers only; food and gum prohibited.
• Profanity and vulgar language is strictly prohibited.
• Clothing or personal belongings must be placed in cubicles or near the bleachers and away from walking and playing areas around the courts. Lockers are available throughout the building.
• Hanging on the rims, nets or backboard structures is strictly prohibited. No dunking. Persons damaging rims will be responsible for damages and will be asked to leave the building.
• Student Recreation Center Supervisors reserve the right to remove anyone from the building for poor behavior.

CLIMBING WALL RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Climbers must check in with the climbing wall staff on duty before they climb
• All climbers must be certified by University of Akron Climbing Wall staff
• Registered climbers and climbing staff are the only ones allowed on climbing wall floor at any time.
• Everyone climbing must have a current waiver on file.
• Proper climbing gear must be worn at all times.
• Beware of fall and swing zones.
• Climbing is not permitted on wall without a belayer; bouldering is not permitted without a spotter.
• No food or drink on the rubber floor.
• Proper climbing shoes must be worn when climbing.
• No bouldering above 10 feet.
• No personal harnesses.
• Climbing above top rope anchors is prohibited.
• Climbers are subject to safety protocol checks at any time.
• Rock climbing/indoor wall climbing includes certain risks including but not limited to the risk of injury or death.
• Report any facility or safety issues to climbing wall staff immediately.
• Climbing wall staff reserve the right to remove anyone from climbing wall area if you create an unsafe environment.

GUIDELINES FOR JOUST

• All jousters must remove shoes and jewelry.
• All jousters must wear protective headgear.
• Jousters should be paired of similar height and weight.
• No pushing, shoving, kicking, etc. with hands or feet.

NATATORIUM GENERAL RULES

1. Children under 48 inches must have an adult (over 18 years old) in the water with the child. Lifeguards have the discretionary authority to require an adult to be in the water with children who are deemed weak swimmers.
2. Children who are not toilet trained should wear protective plastic pants with secure leg closures.
3. All users are encouraged to lock their valuables up at all times. Special coin operated security lockers are available by the front desk. They require one nickel per use.
4. Employees are not responsible for patron's personal belongings.
5. Glass containers are prohibited in the pool areas, locker rooms and bleacher areas.
6. Balloons are not permitted in the Natatorium, either on the pool deck or in the stands.

SWIMMING POOL RULES

1. Before entering pool area, a soap shower before using the pool is highly recommended.
2. Wear proper swimming attire - no cut-offs.
3. Dispose of all food, drink and gum. No glass containers of any kind are allowed in the locker rooms or on the pool deck.
4. Swim only when a lifeguard is on duty.
5. Lifeguards have the responsibility for the safety of all swimmers; please follow their directions.
6. Lifeguards may require anyone of questionable swimming ability to take a deep-water swim test before using water over their head.
7. Always walk on the pool deck; don't run.
8. Rough play, horseplay or chicken fights are not permitted.
9. Do not swim under the bulkheads or thorough the lap lanes.
10. An adult (18 years old or older) must accompany children under 12 years while at the Natatorium.
11. Set-up for the pool varies. Check with the attendant as to what areas are available. Classes and rentals may restrict the availability of certain areas of the pool.
12. In an emergency, when you hear one long blast of a whistle, stop whatever you are doing and follow the lifeguard's instructions.
13. Feet-first entries are required, except for deep-water areas. Headfirst entries into posted shallow water areas are not permitted. Somersaults, back dives and other inappropriate entries from the deck or bulkhead are not permitted
14. Only U.S. Coast Guard approved floatation devices are permitted. Floaties, inflatable rings and inflatable devices used in place of swimming skills are not allowed. The Lifeguard or Supervisor will determine if an item is allowable.
15. Lap lanes are for continuous swimming. Be considerate of others. Two or more people can swim in a lane. Circle swim by staying to the right.
16. Return any equipment to the storage bins after using.
17. Starting blocks are not for general recreation use. Qualified instructors or coaches are required for supervision during usage.
18. Hanging on the lane lines is not permitted.
19. Lifeguards or any staff member reserve the right to remove anyone from the pool.
20. Leisure pool users are not permitted to enter other Student Recreation Center activity areas when wet.

DIVING RULES

1. Swimming ability may be tested
2. Dive only when a lifeguard is on duty.
3. Follow the lifeguard's instructions at all times.
4. Be sure the area in front of the diving board or platform is clear before diving.
5. Only one person on a board at a time.
6. Only one bounce is permitted; no multiple bounces.
7. Dive straight off the end of the board.
8. Swim to the nearest ladder or side of the pool and exit immediately.
9. No unorthodox diving, dangerous dives, chain dives or rough play on the boards (such as handstands, butt bouncing or sailor dives).
10. A maximum of four (4) people is allowed on the 3-meter diving board platform. Additional users should wait on the deck, at the bottom of the ladder for space to become available.
11. Diving tower is restricted to authorized users. A coach or authorized person must be present. Prior permission from the Aquatics Director is necessary.
12. Anyone not adhering to these rules will be asked to forfeit their privileges and leave the Natatorium.

LEISURE POOL POLICIES

3. All Leisure Pool users are encouraged to lock their valuables up at all times. Special coin operated security lockers are available by the Student Recreation & Wellness Center entrance.
4. Employees are not responsible for patron's personal belongings.
5. Glass containers are prohibited in the pool areas, locker rooms and bleacher areas.
6. All regular Leisure Pool activities end five minutes before the posted closing time.
7. Balloons are not permitted in the Leisure Pool area.

SPA RULES

1. Elderly persons, pregnant women, infants and those with health conditions requiring medical care should consult a physician before entering the spa or hot tub.
2. Unsupervised use by children is prohibited. Children under 15 prohibited.
3. Do not use the spa/hot tub while under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers or other drugs that cause drowsiness or that raise or lower blood pressure.
4. Do not use spa alone.
5. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting.
6. Observe reasonable time limits of 10 to 15 minutes. Then leave the water and cool down before returning for another brief stay.
7. Do not use at water temperature greater than 104 degrees F.
8. No public display of affection allowed.
