


Adventure Trips
Have you ever wanted to rock climb, kayak, backpack, hike, camp, whitewater raft, run in the woods or canoe? If so, one of our adventure trips may be for you. The adventure trip program offers a variety of overnight and day trips throughout the year. Most trips are designed for beginner and novice participants and a few require pre-requisite experience or knowledge. For the current Fall 2012 adventure trip schedule please click [here].
Clinics and Workshops
Want more than an experience? What to learn specific adventure skils? We offer a wide range of clinics and workshops that focus on a specific adventure skill or set of skills.
Certification Programs
We are proud to offer national certification programs in Essentials of Kayaking and Adaptive Paddling through the American Canoe Association as well as Climbing Wall Instructor certification through the American Mountain Guides Association.

Program Participation
Outdoor Adventure programs are available to University of Akron students, faculty and staff, recreation center members and the local community. Some programming is limited to only students and will clearly identified in the program description.
Minimum Participation Numbers
Every program has a minimum number of participants for the program to run. Please review the program description to find out the minimum number of participants required for the program.
Program Registration
Registration for all fall and spring semester programming begins on the first day of classes for each semester. To register for an adventure program, please visit the OASIS during open hours. Most trips have an associated fee to participate. Payment in full is required to register for a program. If a program does not have a fee, it still may require registration. Program registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration Deadline
Each adventure program has a registration deadline. Please review the appropriate schedule to ensure that you register in time for your intended program. Trips fill early in the semester. Sign up early to ensure your spot.
Program Payment
We accept Visa, Master Card, Discovery, Zip Card, personal check and cash.
Refund Policy
For most programs, refunds will be issued if a program participant cancels registration two weeks in advance of the program.
Refunds for programs that have a registration deadline less than two weeks prior to the trip will only be issued if the participant cancels registration within two business days after the trip's registration deadline. Refunds will not be issued if a participant cancels their registration within five business days prior to the scheduled program.
If a program is cancelled due to weather or lack of participation, a full refund will be issued. Refunds will only be issued up to two weeks after the cancelled program. Please hold onto your receipt, as it will be required to issue a refund.
Waivers and Forms
Every participant in an adventure program is required to fill out our Outdoor Adventure Activity Waiver and Photo Release Waiver. Some programs require participant to complete our Medical History Form.

Trip Difficulty and Pre-Requisite Experience
The majority of Outdoor Adventure Programming is designed for the novice or beginner recreationalist. However, a few of our programs do require pre-requisite training or experience. If a program requires pre-requisite training or experience and/or if the trip difficulty is geared towards the intermediate or advanced recreationalist, that will be clearly identified in the program description.
