By combining caring professionalism with advanced technology, the Virginia E. Wilson Assistive Listening Device Center at the University of Akron is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people who are hearing impaired. The Center has state-of-the art assistive listening devices displayed in a home-like setting so that individuals with hearing impairments can experiment with their usage. This Center is also the site of the Hearing Aid Orientation Programs which are offered by the Audiology Clinic.
The Wilson Center is highly regarded as a community and educational asset for patients who are hearing impaired as well as for the Doctor of Audiology students and licensed faculty who work with them. The facility is located within the Polsky Building, a downtown Akron landmark. It is a component of the School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology within the College of Health Professions.
