Our Mission
The mission of the Department of Statistics is to provide students with a quality education in statistics, in which they acquire fundamental statistical skills and develop a sense of statistics as a profession. In addition, our graduates will be prepared for advanced studies in statistics and related disciplines and for the diverse uses of statistics in business, industry, government, scientific research, and society.
We offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in Statistics and Bachelor of Science degrees in Statistics, Statistics/Computer Science, Statistics/Actuarial Science and a Minor in Statistics.
Additionally, The University of Akron M.S. Statistics degree is the only masters-level program offered at a public institution in the region.
The Department of Statistics maintains two instructional computer labs and provide the latest statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, JMP, Minitab, etc.

Our students obtain real-world hands-on experience through our Center for Statistical Consulting by the practical application of statistical processes while interacting with student and faculty researchers and outside clients.
