Academic Achievement Programs EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH Educational Talent Search is a federally funded TRIO program which provides free services to assist participants in successful enrollment or re-enrollment in postsecondary education. The program receives primary financial support from The U. S. Department of Education and The University of Akron. Why Educational Talent Search? We want to be a part of your success!
Our Educational Specialists present workshops in Akron Public Schools to middle school and high school participants. We also provide individual, in-office appointments for adult participants who wish to return to school.
Program services are free and we accept applications year round, with availability for 1,025 participants.
- Two-thirds of our participants must meet federal income guidelines
- Must be the first college-bound participant in the immediate family; meaning neither parent earned a bachelor's degree
- Must be an adult or a 6th - 12th grader with the desire and motivation to succeed academically
- Must maintain a 2.25 grade point average (6th through 12th graders)
