As a commuter you are part of a very large and diverse group of students. The University of Akron recognizes that commuter students have
other priorities outside of the class room and have special needs. In
the effort to support and assist all commuter students, The University
of Akron has established Commuter Central.
We urge you to become active members in the campus community and
experience the endless opportunities that The University of Akron offers!

My name is Mackenzie Merz, I am a senior at The University of Akron. I graduate fall 2010 with a BA in E-marketing/Advertising. After some real world experience in the corporate world, I plan on pursuing my MBA in a couple of years. I enjoy working at Commuter Central because I really enjoy helping new students at the university. It is hard enough coming to college on your own, so I am more than happy to help them with any questions they might have. |

Title: Commuter Student Assistant of Technology
Hometown: Liberty, Ohio
I am a junior majoring in Accounting. In my spare time I participate in sports, going to UA football and basketball games, and listen to music. I enjoy studying business because I know it will be applicable after school and I can have a bright future in this field. I can especially help students with the business related questions. I am also available to help any student who has a question or needs some assistance. My favorite part of Commuter Central is reaching out to students and making UA feel like a smaller community rather than a large Division I school.

Title: Commuter Student Assistant of Information
Hometown: Columbiana,Ohio
I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering and going into my senior year at the University of Akron. I’m a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Golden Key Akron Chapter, participate in intramural sports, and trying to get involved in campus life as much as possible. In my free time I enjoy lifting, watching Steelers football, canoeing, philosophy, arts of all forms, and still trying to stick to my country boy roots. When I graduate, I hope to pursue a career with either NASA or the CIA and travel the world, or hopefully outer space. Working at Commuter Central is an awesome way to help my fellow students in any way possible and, if anything, making new friends along the way.
