Chapter Bio:

We are the Eta chapter of Delta Gamma and proud to be the oldest existing chapter of Delta Gamma. Our chapter was chartered on the campus of the University of Akron in 1879. We are proud to have a rich history on this campus. Our philanthropy is service to the blind and visually impaired and Delta Gamma has recently launched a new program, Joining Forces which is a program in which we work with wounded veterans. Our sign is the anchor because it is the international sign for hope and our flower is the cream color rose.  We pride ourselves on maintaining a strong sisterhood and supporting each other through the ups and downs.  We strive to live by the highest ideals and morals as seen in article two of the Delta Gamma constitution which reads:

The objects of this Fraternity shall be to foster high ideals of friendship among college women, to promote their educational and cultural interests, to create in them a true sense of social responsibility and to develop in them the best qualities of character. Delta Gamma’s primary purpose is to create an environment for its members in which lasting friendships are established and in which members find the processes, the experiences and the disciplines that will stimulate clear thought. Its aim is to foster an atmosphere in which women will develop a deeper love and consideration for mankind, a more profound understanding of the purpose of life and a basic wisdom upon which to build their lives.
