Chapter Bio:

Phi Delta Theta is not your typical fraternity. We are a fraternity dedicated to our values and striving to live up to them the in the pursuit to “Become the Greatest Version of Ourselves.” We strive in all aspects of life to live up to our three cardinal principles of Friendship, Sound Learning, and Moral Rectitude. We have a strong sense of brotherhood among members and because of this we strive to push each other to become better individuals and to increase the growth of our personal development. We are also a dry fraternity with alcohol free housing, which allows us to have a fun, safe, and well kept house for our brothers, family, and guests to enjoy.

Phi Delta Theta has rich history and a strong legacy here at The University of Akron. We have been on this campus for 138 years, since 1875, making us the oldest fraternity at The University of Akron. In the past year we have strived to live up to our values in all our daily lives. During the Spring 2013 semester alone, we have given over 1,600 hours of service and raised over $6,000 for ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. To show our respect for our international philanthropy and our fellow Brother, Loug Gheri we have adopted 2 local families that are affected by this horrible disease. We assist these families in any way possible by raising money and donating our time. This has been one of the best experiences for this fraternity to be able to give back to the community and to a family where we can see a direct impact of the work we do. As a chapter we strive to live our value of sound learning each day in the classroom. As a chapter we were 3rd overall fraternity in grades with many members in the Honors College and on the Dean's List. We have a sound scholarship program that gives you the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom and to better yourself as a young man. Along with striving academically our chapter also hosts various events to benefit the Akron community. One of our largest events we put on during every fall semester is our annual “Soberfest.” We host this event during the university's alcohol awareness week. The event is to support alcohol awareness week and show there is another way to spend a night out and have fun with ways other than alcohol. It is always a great time with a phenomenal turnout, and all the proceeds get donated to the ALS Foundation. The benefit of joining Phi Delta Theta not only last for your time as a college man but for the rest of your life.
