Chapter Bio:

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was organized November 12, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana by 7 school teachers. It became a national collegiate organization December 30, 1929 at Butler University.  Sigma Gamma Rho is the only sorority of the Divine 9 to be founded on a predominately white campus. This was an astounding accomplishment due to the oppression and discrimination not only endured by African Americans, but women as well.

The elusive epsilon rho chapter was chartered on the campus of The University of Akron April 16, 1978 by 3 illustrious women. It was created to bring to the city of Akron, “Greater Service Greater Progress” and to fulfill the mission of Sigma Gamma Sorority through programming, academics and community service!
