Panhellenic Council (PHC) |

The PHC is the governing body of the 5 sororities on campus. All PHC member chapters are members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Each chapter has a Panhellenic Delegate, and combined with the Executive Board, the PHC discusses current issues, coordinates Formal Recruitment, and other programs like New Member Retreat and the Collegiate Issues Educational Series. When a woman joins a sorority on campus, she also joins the Panhellenic as a whole. Formal Recruitment typically happens the first month of school each fall semester. Because PHC coordinates recruitment for its chapters, please contact PHC directly for questions on how to join a chapter.

On behalf of the Panhellenic Association and the Office of Greek Life, I would like to welcome you to the University of Akron and sorority life! As a student at the University of Akron, there are so many opportunities for you to get involved; I hope that along with everything that will come your way, going Greek is part of your plan.
The Panhellenic Association at The University of Akron serves as the governing body for the National Panhellenic Conference sororities on campus. At The University of Akron we are proud to have the following five Panhellenic sororities: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma and Kappa Kappa Gamma. The Panhellenic Association exists to unify and maintain sorority life and interfraternal relations. The Panhellenic Council is responsible for coordinating sorority recruitment and programming events as well as leadership development and education for our new members. Members of the Panhellenic Community participate in philanthropy events which benefit a number of charitable organizations, donate hours of community service to the Akron area and become involved in many other organizations. As a Greek Community, we participate in intramurals, Songfest, Greek Week and Collegiate Issues. The Panhellenic Association is the largest women's organization on campus with more than 300 members and boasts an average GPA of 3.12, higher than the all-undergraduate average!
Attending a large university such as The University of Akron can sometimes be overwhelming. Being part of a sorority can make the campus feel more intimate and create a home away from home. Each sorority encourages individual development by setting high ideals in leadership, scholarship, service to others and social maturity. Memories of sorority experiences will be treasured for years after graduation, and many of the friendships created will be cherished for a lifetime. No matter which sorority you choose, you will find a unique bond of friendship. You will be joining a group of women with whom you will be able to share laughter, dreams and even tears. Above all, the lessons learned will remain in your heart forever!
Going Greek is one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. I have grown not only as a person but as a leader. In each sorority you will find friends, guidance and support. Most of all, you will have the time of your life. I hope that each of you will find what I have found in the Greek community at the University of Akron.
Please do not hesitate to contact me to find out more about what the Panhellenic Association at The University of Akron has to offer!
Loyally,
Jacqui Flaherty
