Smiles with Style is a friendly, fun and compassionate volunteer organization that provides hospitalized children with small makeovers and a chance to play dress-up. We offer a fun diversion from their treatments and life in the hospital. It's a lot of fun and a great way to improve the spirit of these kids.
To watch them transform from being frightened or intimidated to smiling and confident is rewarding! We are looking for fun loving volunteers that will visit with the children and provide the makeovers. We are also looking for students who want to coordinate a fundraiser. We need help raising funds to buy the brushes and tiaras for our princesses!

The City of Fairlawn Parks and Recreation need their garlic mustard pulled (landscaping assistance)! This invasive plant (which is a nasty weed) is choking out other plants that should be growing in our park. The bees, butterflies and birds (and us!) will surely appreciate your efforts. It is easily identified and easily pulled; we just need a few hours (10am-noon) to make a radical difference in the park!
Lots of volunteers are needed – this is a great opportunity for larger groups! We will provide lunch and beverages afterwards. Volunteer days are the following: April 14, April 27, and May 5.

The Alzheimer's Association is hosting Blondes vs. Brunettes on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Stile Athletics Field House on Campus and we are in need of players, volunteers and folks to attend the game. Mental Health America of Summit County, a non profit agency that works to educate and advocate for mental health, is looking for volunteers for our Vegas Night Fundraiser. The "Buckeyes Kick-It" kickball fundraising event scheduled for June 22, 2013 12pm - 4 pm. is need of approximately 30 volunteers to umpire kickball games, staff registration tables, raffles, contests, donation and silent auction tables.

I Can Bike is a 5-day camp that teaches individuals of ALL different abilities to independently ride a bike. Volunteers are needed as spotters to walk/jog beside campers as they learn to ride. There are 5 shifts each day of this week long camp and volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the same 75 minute shift for the entire week to provide consistency for the campers. Must be 16 years or older and attend a Volunteer Orientation Meeting on Sunday, 7/14th.

An 8 week (every Thursday July 11 through August 29. 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) training program for students interested in becoming hospice volunteers is now being offered by the HMC Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care. Volunteer driver or "ride along" is needed to assist with picking up food donations at various locations. Volunteer driver needs to have a clean driving record; will be driving Foodbank van or box truck; able to lift up to 40 pounds. The "ride along" would assist our driver with gathering barrels and bins of local food drive items. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Two-hour shifts flexible between the hours of 8:30a-3:00p M-F. Driver or "ride along" will report to Foodbank dispatcher for shift.

CATCH is a childhood obesity prevention program using an evidence based curriculum. The RSVP volunteer program utilizes older adults to meet important community needs. This program is utilizing an intergenerational model where tudents with a background in health and wellness are teamed up with a student to teach physical activity lessons, nutrition lessons using the WHOA, SLOW, GO concept, reducing screentime and preparing healthy snacks. The participants are children 5-11 and their grandparents.

Are you a crafty person? Do you enjoy art? Do you need service hours for school? United Disability Services and All Star Training Club are looking for supportive individuals who take initiative and can encourage others. Compassionate, nurturing, energetic and thoughtful people are needed to fill the volunteer position of "Fine Arts Activity Assistant". You will be assigned to assist participants with a variety of art projects. We are searching for 5-10 volunteers who would like to use their creative talents to help participants in our Zentangle class and Drawing with Pencil class. The Fine Art classes run on Wednesdays from 5:45 - 8:45 p.m. for 6 weeks. The first session begins on February 20, 2013. We prefer someone who is willing to make a 6-week commitment but are willing to discuss other arrangements.

Those looking for a deeper volunteer experience should consider participating in the Hunger in America 2014 Study. We need volunteers to accompany Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank staff on interviews with clients at our member agency sites. Between April and August 2013, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will be participating in a nationwide survey sponsored by Feeding America, the national network of Food Banks. This study is conducted every four years. Please consider volunteering to help gather information about why clients seek food assistance in our community. Volunteers will participate in teams to assist clients in the completion of a web-based survey in our eight county service area. Teams can expect to be at a site for 3 to 4 hours in order to complete the required interviews. Volunteers are asked to be comfortable with computer software and web-based applications.
