What is FERPA?

FERPA stands for Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. FERPA is a federal law which protects the privacy of educational student records. See University Rule 3359-11-08 for the University of Akron policy regarding student records.

Please note: The FERPA Waiver must be signed in person at the Office of Student Judicial Affairs located in the Student Union, room 211 in order to provide permission to release student records.
