The Judicial Process

When a report of misconduct is received by the Office of Student Judicial Affairs…

1. A fact-finding meeting is scheduled with the student in the Office of Student Judicial Affairs

2. The student is informed of the report of his/her misconduct and is requested to make a statement concerning the report

3. Other witnesses and evidence are examined

4. Student Judicial Affairs official determines whether the student is responsible or not responsible

There are several possible outcomes…

1. The matter is closed with no prejudice to the student if the student denies all alleged misconduct and based upon the evidence presented, no university rule or regulation was violated

2. The matter is dealt with informally and sanctions are imposed

3. If probable cause exists to indicate the student has violated university rules as defined by the Student Code of Conduct the student is notified that the matter will be referred to University Hearing Board

4. Report of the investigation is submitted to the Assistant Dean of Student Life or his/her designee for transmission to the University Hearing Board
