The 2380 Project: A Film Organization

The purpose of the 2380 Project is to write, direct, and produce an original feature length film every year and to sponsor a film every year featuring the original film made by the group to provide a venue for other local filmmakers to show their work through the film festival to promote activities that enhance student growth and learning such as attending film conferences and sponsoring guest speakers associated with local filmmaking in meetings.

Accounting Association

The purpose of the accounting shall be to encourage the study of accountancy, to foster social, intellectual and scholastic interaction between accounting students, faculty, professionals, and alumni, to help maintain the high ideals and standards of The University of Akron, to provide students with opportunity to enhance their managerial and leadership skills.

Akron Law Student Organization of the American Civil Liberties Union


The purpose of this organization shall be to promote discussion and awareness of civil liberties issues and to safeguard civil liberties among the student body. The organization will represent itself in a way consistent with the mission and views of the ACLU. The organization will not claim to represent the ACLU in any media outlet other than those affiliated with The University of Akron; furthermore, the organization will accurately represent the views of the ACLU in any campus media venue and will seek clarification on ACLU views from the Education Coordinator of the ACLU of Ohio when necessary. Upon receiving permission, the organization may send a representative to Affiliate Board of the ACLU of Ohio meetings, but is not permitted to vote on board issues. The ACLU is a non-partisan organization. The organization will not endorse or oppose particular political parties or candidates and will consult with the Education Coordinator before endorsing or opposing any ballot initiative. The organization will submit a new registration from to the appropriate representative of the ACLU of Ohio at the beginning of each academic year. The organization will immediately notify the Education Coordinator of any changes in leadership or contact information and will maintain ongoing contact to update the Education Coordinator regarding status and projects, at least once per school term.

Akron Blades


The Objectives of the Akron Blades shall be to promote and improve the awareness of table tennis among students, faulty and staff at The University of Akron. The Akron Blades has a dual purpose, focusing on both recreational and competitive play. In order to accomplish this goal, the Akron Blades will provide several activities including but not limited to coaching, guided play and tournaments, leagues, education and social functions.

Akron Council of Education Students (ACES)


The Purpose of this organization shall be to enhance communication between education students by promoting fellowship and supplementing professional training.
As an adjunct to classroom and experimental learning, members will meet to explore mutual areas of concern or interest in attitudes and outlooks necessary to becoming professional, effective educators.
This organization shall be non-profit and non-sectarian, with no individual gains and no discrimination towards any group or individual tolerated. Further, it exists as an independent organization to serve the needs and interests of its members, unencumbered by ties with any national group or federation.

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the sport of the cricket at The University of Akron and to setup a cricket program for the university students, faculty, staff, alumni and their guests.

African Students Association


The purpose of the African Students Association is to promote unity among students, faculty and staff at The University of Akron. The enhancement of academic, social, cultural and political experience will be the prime concern of the Association. The African Students Association intends to promote cultural diversity on The University of Akron Campus. We will work to bridge the gaps that exist among different groups on campus through insightful and educative programming involving the exposure of different cultural views and ideologies. Through interaction we hope to promote and enhancement of humanity. We intend to empower our members to seek higher educational goals and high standards of morality.

Akron Animation Association


The purpose of this organization shall be to educatestudents on various aspects of animation. We shall strive to give members the proper environment in which to exchange ideas on the creation and production of video animation. The primary purposes of the ABTC are to promote and advance the skills of badminton and tennis at The University of Akron; provide instructional, practice, and recreational opportunities for students on campus and the community and organize tournaments of multiple campuses in Ohio and other states in order to promote kill and social exchanges among students and the community.

The Akron Sidebar


The purpose of this organization is to provide a place for law students at the University of Akron to develop the skills necessary to be leaders in the legal world and to provide a forum for law students to express their views on current issues in law and the law school. Students participating in the publication of The Akron Sidebar will exercise and appreciate the right of free speech, learn to recognize legal issues and proactively seek solutions, develop their writing and communications skills, and publish their ideas and opinions.

Akros Review


The purpose of the Akros review shall be to provide a means for students of The University of Akron to express themselves through various forms of literature, including but not limited to fiction, poetry, and essays. The purpose of this chapter is to promote an interest in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement in the human condition, serve in a student advocacy role, and enhance student-student and student-faculty relations.

Alpha Omega Pentecostals


The purpose of this organization shall be to lead souls to God through prayer, fasting, Bible studies, bi-weekly meetings, cell groups, prophecy conferences, Holy Ghost rallies, service projects, and social activities; to pray for the University of Akron, its leaders, faculty, staff and students; to provide for the students, faculty, and staff a basis from which to learn about Biblical teaching and the experience of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith; to reinforce the faith of Christians attending the University of Akron and equip them for living a Christian life during college and beyond. Round-table discussions on current controversial issues (i.e. abortion, cloning, etc.), seminars on practical matters such as time management and finances from a Biblical perspective, and other methods will be employed to accomplish this goal and to provide information and education about Bible prophecy Specific focus will be on current events relative to Bible prophecy, the role of Christmas in the “end times’, and the outpouring of God’s spirit in today’s world.

Amateur Radio Club


The purpose of the Amateur Radio Club is to provide the necessary facilities for type of amateur radio activity of service desired by its members. This shall include, but not be limited to the following: A club station license and an operating location; Equipment for operation on all legal Amateur Radio bands and modes; Technical literature to assist all members in the furtherance of their technical knowledge, to increase their operating skills and awareness of related current event; non-credit instruction, i.e., lectures, classes, films etc. to assist interested parties in gaining proficiency in skills and techniques related to amateur radio. To provide a working state-of-the-art gateway between amateur packet radio and the internet serving the worldwide amateur radio community. To provide a free message service, both emergency and routine, for the University faculty and students using recognized and sanctioned message handling channels in the United states and, where legal, to foreign countries. To provide information and instruction to persons interested in the Amateur Radio Service, to continue the advancement of the state of the art of radio communications through experimentation within legal and practical limits.

The Ambassadors


The propose of this organization shall be to promote The University of Akron, its interests and goals, among current and future students, alumni, government officials, dignitaries and friends. Members work with colligate and administrative offices to promote the University at special events. To inculcate within undergraduate students the idea that their involvement with the University can and should be a lifetime commitment is significant and central to the future development and progress of the University. To showcase the quality and diversity of the undergraduate student body, promote pride, and communicate understanding of the University. Each member of the group has made a commitment of himself/herself to serve The University of Akron as an Ambassador. It is, therefore, expected that each member uphold standards of excellence as a representative of the University. These Standards include, the following: each Ambassador shall exercise proper social etiquette (as per information previously provided all Ambassadors) when serving in an official capacity at University functions, all members shall be punctual, dressed according to the uniform dress code which will be chosen at first executive meeting, and act in a professional manner while serving in an official capacity, all members shall be prohibited from using tobacco products and consuming alcoholic beverages serving in an official capacity, should a member fail to uphold the standards of excellence as a representative of the University, membership in the organization may be reviewed. Each Ambassador shall have a responsibility to contribute to the overall positive morals of the group through attendance at social functions, considerate and polite concern for other members, and through maintaining professional conduct while dealing with issues and concerns of the group.

American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences


The purpose of this organization shall be to provide and to promote the professional development of Preprofessional/Graduate Students of family and consumer science or related subjects who are individual members of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences or members of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. AAFCS shall also promote the AAFCS program of work and the sections plan-of-action, provide the opportunity for developing family and consumer sciences leadership among student members, provide experiences to increase mutual understanding among people of all cultures, become familiar with the history and explore the future of family and consumer sciences and AAFCS. The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Akron


The purpose of this organization shall be to provide its members opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering profession by sponsoring meetings which will bring practicing engineers to the campus, arranging field trips to research and engineering establishments, sponsoring student projects of engineering interest, and participating in local AIAA Section activities. The Anthropology Club

Associated Student Government


As members of the associated student government (ASG), we shall serve as an advocate for undergraduate for undergraduate students to the faculty and administration. BACCHUS & GAMMA


The purpose of BACCHUS & GAMMA shall be to provide primary prevention efforts to help alleviate the problem of alcohol misuse and abuse on campus; to promote responsible decisions about drinking within the campus community; to help educate and inform students, faculty, administrators, and staff about alcohol use, misuse, and abuse; to help facilitate alcohol-related research; to increase awareness concerning healthy alteration to alcohol misuse and abuse; to enhance communication within the academic community regarding alcohol-related matters; and other heath issues amongst students. We do hereby ordain and establish this Constitution for BACCHUS & GAMMA on behalf of the people of the University of Akron.

Ballroom Dance Club


The purpose of this organization shall be to promote ballroom dancing and to educate the members of the Club, the University of Akron and the surrounding community about the physical, mental, and social benefits of ballroom dancing. The Club will hold meetings to learn and be able to perform the latest steps. The Clun will also perform in the Community, at the University of Akron and at collegiate competitions. The Club will promote ballroom dancing unbiased of age, race and gender. Dancing is an art form and can be shared and enjoyed by everyone. Finally, the Club will also promote ballroom dancing as a good form of exercise.

To proclaim earnestly the Gospel message and to urge its personal acceptance, to cooperate heartily, by prayers, gifts, and service in carrying out the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus, as recorded in the following verses: Mark 16:15, “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, And preach the gospel to every creature.”, Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the world.”, to promote the spiritual and moral growth of the individual student through a Christ oriented, state-wide program that compliments the campus programs and to develop Christian fellowship among the Saints and their growth in grace and knowledge of Christ through inter-collegiate fellowship for the glorification of His precious name.

The purpose and objectives of this association are correlated to those of the National body. Articulate and promote the interest of minority students at the law school. Provide minority students with information about law school; e.g. financial assistance, housing and curriculum alternatives. Prepare an adequate orientation program for new minority students. Develop a sense of unity among the members of the organization. Assist the law school in its recruiting of qualified minority students and faculty. Promote a diverse and talented student community. Campus Bible Fellowship


The purpose of this organization is to provide Biblical answers and guidance to students who have a genuine interest in the realm of spiritual matters, to provide a fellowship open to all University of Akron students to encourage the understanding of the historic Christian faith through Bible study, discussion groups, outside speakers, and prayer, to provide a link with local new testament churches as commanded in the New Testament. The above, comprised of churches in the Akron area, act as a Liaison Committee for the Campus Bible Fellowship chapter and is coordinated by a person designated by the Campus Bible Fellowship Area Liaison Committee (ALC), to maintain a sensitivity to University of Akron students needs and problems, especially in the area of doctrine and morals, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to give students opportunities as to its personal acceptance, to remain consistent in our purposes, objectives, and activities in coordination with the objectives, rules and regulations of The University of Akron, to encourage a belief in the following Articles of Faith: In the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writing, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life, in one God, eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of Mary, a virgin, and is true God and true man, that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are sinners in thought, word, and deed, that the Lord Jesus Christ died for man’s sin according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in him are justified on the ground of His shed blood, in the “Eternal Security” of the believer; that it is impossible for one born into the family of God ever to be lost, in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate, in “that blessed hope”- the personal, pre-millennial, pretribulational and imminent return of out Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, when the Church will be gathered unto Him, in the literal fulfillment of the prophecies and promises of the Scriptures which foretell and assure the future regeneration and restoration of Israel as a nation, that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost, that the scriptural ordinances of the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and are to be administered by the local New Testament church. Baptist by immersion should be administered to believers only as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial, and resurrection with Jesus Christ, and that the Lord’s Supper should be partaken of by believers only believers only to show forth His Death until He comes.

Campus Habitat for Humanity


Campus Habitat for Humanity at the University of Akron, hereafter to as Campus Habitat, Shall conform to the general purpose of Campus Chapters of Habitat for Humanity as set forth in its basic covenant with Habitat for Humanity International (“ Habitat International”) of Americus, Georgia. The specific purpose of Campus Habitat shall be: to spread the word about habitat for Humanity on campus of the University of Akron so that all students, faculty, administrators, and staff have an awareness of the work, to support Habitat International, Habitat for Humanity Summit County, and other Habitat affiliates by recruiting volunteers to work for local Habitat affiliates, and Habitat International in the United States and overseas, to encourage members of the university family to work in their own communities to establish Habitat affiliates where none exist, to organize volunteers to go to Habitat projects either in the United States or overseas to work for a week or longer each year, to develop special projects determined by the committee of officers with the support of the general membership of Campus Habitat, to organize, promote, and carry out activities to raise funds for Habitat projects and distribute such funds promptly to Habitat affiliates for which these funds are intended and to encourage members of the campus community to proliferate the Habitat philosophy and ministry to their communities and places of work upon leaving the University of Akron.

The purpose of this organization shall be to inform and recruit possible chemistry majors and to encourage student interest and knowledge of chemical principles. The purpose of this Chapter shall be to encourage continuing education among members of the nursing profession; to have a continuous recruitment program for nursing and the health professional; to stimulate a close and friendly relationship among the members; to develop a working relationship with other professional groups for the improvement and delivery of health care services and to constantly identify a corps of nursing leaders within the membership who will function as agents of social change on the national, regional and local level.

UACR recognizes that there are issues upon which there is considerable debate within the Republican Party, and thus shall take no official position on such issues in regards to the following purposes. Commuter Central Group


The purpose of this organization shall be to foster a sense of belonging and community to those students who commute to the University of Akron, and to voice the diverse and carried opinions of commuters of the University of Akron. The vast majority of students at the University of Akron are commuters, yet they are generally excluded from the many programs of the university, the CCG will organize events and programs that are catered more toward the commuters.
