Would you like to get paid to help high school students develop and assist their transition from high school to college? Then you need to consider becoming an Oelschlager Mentor.
Thanks to Jim and Vanita Oelschlager, The University of Akron has implemented an annual Summer Leadership Institute designed to enhance the leadership and academic performance of 48 area high school students.
OELSCHLAGER SUMMER INSTITUTE INTERNSHIP AND PROGRAM
The Office of Leadership, Development, and Special Projects is establishing the Oelschlager Internship Program in conjunction with the Oelschlager Summer Leadership Institute. The Oelschlager Summer Leadership Institute is the result of a magnanimous gift given to The University of Akron by Jim and Vanita Oelschlager. Due to their unparalleled generosity, every summer forty-eight area high school students who have completed their junior year in the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne as well as students in the Stahlstown, Pennsylvania area are nominated to participate in an eight-day workshop on The University of Akron campus. The Oelschlager Summer Leadership Institute is designed to empower a group of high school students by introducing them to the requisite skills, attitudes, and resources for success in college. This fun, challenging eight-day experience will encourage Summer Institute participants to adopt habits and utilize resources useful to becoming high-achieving collegiate leaders and scholars.
The Oelschlager Summer Leadership Institute is searching for a maximum of four interns to assist with this wonderful experience. Interns will have an active role in facilitation of small groups, problem solving and team building. Room and board are provided during the live-in experience.
