A wide variety of concerts, festivals and special events are planned this summer in Downtown Akron, many of them free to the public.
Three concerts were designated as a “Friends and Family” events this summer — employees and students just showed their Zip Cards to be admitted for free, along with up to three friends or family members.

Throughout the summer, Lock 3 Akron, located at 200 S. Main St., will host free concerts every Friday night, along with festivals and other events. Beginning June 29, there will be concerts every Saturday night as well.
Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning July 10 and continuing through Sept. 4, the Lock Bottom Blues and Jazz Club will feature free concerts with local artists. Lock 4 Akron is "down under Bowery Street," located adjacent to Lock 3 Akron.
Movies@Main is part of the very full calendar at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 South High St., Akron. The free series, held each Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., showcases a variety of film genres from different eras.
