Formerly Summit College
The College of Applied Science and Technology (formerly Summit College) is one of six degree-granting colleges at The University of Akron. Degree programs are located in the Polsky Building, Schrank Hall and Gallucci Hall. We offer nationally accredited associate and baccalaureate degree programs in a variety of technical areas. We offer minors and technical certificates, and through our Training Centers in Fire/Hazardous Materials and Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, and the Division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, an extensive list of non-credit programs.
We've changed our name to the College of Applied Science and Technology.
The new name better conveys our purpose: To prepare you for professional and technology-based careers through applied degrees and through partnerships with area businesses and the larger community.
"The important word in the new name is 'applied,'" says Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, interim associate dean of the college. "Our practical, hands-on approach to learning sets our college apart and gives graduates an advantage in the job market."
