


Medical Assistants are multi-skilled practitioners who perform a wide range of roles in physicians’ offices and other health care settings. They are proficient in a multitude of administrative and clinical tasks, and are widely viewed by doctors as vital partners in increasing medical office productivity. Medical Assisting is one of the nation’s fastest growing careers. Men and women already in the field--and those entering in the near future--are likely to find a growing demand for their services and ample opportunities for advancement in the years ahead.

After successfully completing the requirements for this program, and after being recommended by faculty of Summit College, a student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assisting Technology.
As a medical assistant, you will be the the physician's "right arm."
The Medical Assisting Technology degree at The University of Akron which awards an Associate of Applied Science degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
