Adult Learner Emergency Book Fund Loan

UA Adult Focus has established a need-based Emergency Book Loan specifically for adult (non-traditional) students whose Pell, OIG/OCOG, Perkins or Stafford funds are insufficient to cover the cost of books needed for a semester. This loan is administered by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Upon certain cirumstances and at the discretion of UA Adult Focus and the Office of Student Financial Aid, the loan may be given more than once. In these circumstances, one of the requirements that must be met is at least a 2.0 GPA, including developmental courses.

The criteria for borrowing from this fund are as follows:

• Pell and/or OIG/OCOG eligible;

• an adult student (any student, regardless of age, whose primary life roles and responsibilities exist independent of the University and take precedence over the role of student in times of crisis or stress);

• an undergraduate;and

• enrolled minimum of one-half time.

Other stipulations

• Limited to $300 per person/semester.

• Book loan can only be administered up to fourth week of classes (exceptions can be made and will be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid).

• Must be paid back within four months from time of receiving loan.

• Failure to repay the loan within the time limit will result in a registration hold.

• Scholarship applies only to the first time student receives loan. Students who repay loan on time and attain the following GPAs (including developmental courses) for that semester will be refunded the amount borrowed (excluding interest):

3.0 GPA or higher - 100%
2.7 - 2.99 GPA - 75%
2.3 - 2.69 GPA - 50%
