UA Adult Focus is an academic support service for adult learners. An adult learner is any student who satisfies one of the following conditions:

* 25 years old or older;
* Assumes multiple life roles such as a parent, spouse/partner, employee, care-giver and student;
* Returns to school after four or more years of employment, homemaking, or other activity;
* Veteran of the armed services;

Any student, regardless of age, whose primary life roles and responsibilities exist independent of the University and take precedence over the role of student in times of crisis or stress is considered to be an adult student.

The UA Adult Focus Mission:

1) Assist adult students who are thinking of beginning or returning to college, transferring from another institution, or moving into this area.

2) Aid adults as they make the transition to being University of Akron students and help them make appropriate educational and career choices.

3) Advocate for and with adult students to ensure institutional policies and practices help them.

4) Foster a greater sense of community among adult students.

Whatever your occupation, we've got an evening or weekend course for you! We offer evening and weekend classes for literally hundreds of courses from more than 300 undergraduate and graduate programs. It's even possible to earn a complete degree or certificate just by taking evening and/or weekend courses!

You are never too old to go to college and succeed. At The University of Akron, more than 35% of all students pursuing undergraduate degrees are adult or non-traditional students. In fact, 72% of all the students who attend evening courses only are at least 25 years old or older. No matter what your age, each student's experience is important to us at the UA Adult Focus.
