Nicole L. Rosen is a graduate student in the Department of Sociology at The University of Akron. Her main areas of focus include criminology and gender studies. Ms. Rosen earned her Master’s degree at The Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her thesis, “Attitudes Toward External Efforts to Eradicate Female Genital Cutting: A Case Study in Kenya.” She has taught various sociology, women’s studies, and anthropology classes, including: Introduction to Women’s Studies, Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Human Sexuality, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology of the Family, Sociological Theory, and Multicultural Diversity in the U.S. Ms. Rosen’s current research interests include modern slavery (specifically sex trafficking), qualitative research methods, gender, criminology, and social inequalities. She has been teaching in the Women’s Studies program at The University of Akron since Fall 2011.
