We have a variety of dining plan options available to suit your style. The table below shows the plans available and the costs for each. Below that, you will find a detailed description of our most popular plans.

Please note: Residence hall students are required to participate in the University dining plan options, except residents of Townhouses or Exchange Street Apartments with kitchens.

About the plans

Here is a description of each plan:

Resident Dining Plans

Triangle Traditional Dining Plan —With this option, you will receive 19, 15, or 12 meals per week at Rob's Café. Rob’s Café offers all you-care-to-eat buffet-style service Monday through Friday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and Saturday and Sunday (brunch and dinner). You may also use these plans at our Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe. You will also receive 5 guest passes per semester. Each plan will also come with dining dollars for the semester. 19T will receive $100, 15T will receive $75 and the 12T will receive $50 per semester.

Freshmen living on campus are required to purchase a traditional or Rob’s dining plan.

Triangle Robs Plan —With this option, you will receive unlimited access to Rob's Café or Robs 2 Go as many times as you want during the hours of operation.  You will also receive 5 guest passes per semester and $25 in Dining Dollars for the semester.  This plan offers the flexibility and exceptional value for students that have hectic schedules, need a snack between classes, or want to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating several small meals per day.

Declining Plans

TriangleBlue Plan —With this option, you will receive My Dining Dollars and traditional meals for flexible, affordable dining.  Receive $300 in My Dining Dollars per semester ($150 at the start of the semester and $150 at 8th week) plus 7 meals per week at Robs Café.  You may also use these meals at Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe.  The Blue plan will offer a roll over option to the spring semester, and up to $100 will roll over to your spring dining plan. Depending on your dining plan choice, you will see this roll over in the way of a credit to your semester charge (blue plan) or dining dollars remain on your Zip Card (other plans). You must purchase a spring dining plan for the dining dollars from the Blue plan to roll over. All unused dining dollars will expire at the end of each academic year.  Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are required to purchase either a Resident Dining Plan or Flex plan.

TriangleGold Plan —With this option, you will receive $750 in My Dining Dollars per semester ($375 at start of semester and $375 at 8th week) plus 10 meals per week at Robs Café. You may also use these meals at Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe.  The Gold plan will offer a roll over option to the spring semester with up to $200 rolling over to your spring dining plan. Depending on your spring dining plan choice, you will see this roll over in the way of a credit to your spring charge (gold plan) or dining dollars remain on your Zip Card (other plans). You must purchase a spring dining plan for the dining dollars from the Gold plan to roll over. All unused dining dollars will expire at the end of each academic year. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are required to purchase either a Resident Dining Plan or Flex plan.

Non-Resident Plans

TriangleLight Blue Plan —With this option, you may receive all the same benefits of the Blue Plan only with fewer meals and My Dining Dollars.  Receive $250 in My Dining Dollars per semester plus 4 meals per week at Robs Café.  You may also use these meals at Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe.  This plan is available to purchase for summer dining, for resident and non-resident students.

TriangleLight Gold Plan —With this option, you will receive $150 in My Dining Dollars plus 5 meals per week at Rob’s Café. You may also use these meals at Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe.

TriangleFive Plan —With this option, you will receive 5 meals per week at Rob’s Café. You may also use these meals at Trackside Grille, Summit Bistro, Union Market, Climbing Rock Café, Ohio Burger Co., Zees Grille, and Zee’s Convenience Stores – a choice of meal equivalent options will be posted at each location equal to one meal swipe.

TriangleMy Dining Dollars offer great flexibility. They can also be used at any on-campus eatery and at our Zee's Convenience Stores. They can also be used at any off-campus eatery that accepts the Zip Card.

 


What if I want to change my dining plan? If you find that the dining plan you selected is not working with your schedule or eating habits you may go on line and into My Akron any time during the first 4 weeks of the semester, click the Dining Services change / cancel icon to complete the form. Any changes thereafter can ONLY be upgrades. Dining plan changes are updated on a weekly basis. Each student is limited to two changes per semester.

Can I bring a guest to the dining hall? Traditional or My Rob's dining plan will have 5 guest passes attached to their plans per semester. These passes may be used at Rob’s Café and Trackside Grille. When entering these locations, you will swipe for yourself, and then again for your guest. Your Zip Card will keep track of these passes.

Dining Plan FAQ

When can I start using my Dining Plan?

All dining plans go into effect on Sunday (brunch) prior to the 1st of the semester and end with lunch on the Friday of exam week.

What if I am planning on missing a meal?

Talk with one of our Managers at Rob’s for a brown bag meal or to-go box.

Can I use my Dining Plan during academic breaks?

Dining Plans are not available during breaks - Thanksgiving, Winter / Spring / Summer Breaks

What if I want to change my Dining Plan?

If you find that the dining plan you selected is not working for your schedule or eating habits you may log into Zipline and click the Dining Services icon to complete the change / cancellation request. Changes may be made at any time during the first 4 weeks of the semester and have it changed. Any changes after the first 4 weeks can ONLY be upgrades. Dining plan changes are updated on a weekly basis.

Where can I purchase a Dining Plan?

You may purchase a dining plan at any time during the semester by visiting our Zip Card Offices to fill out an Option Dining Plan Contract.

Where Can I use my Dining Dollars and All Campus Zip Card Money?

Can I cancel my Dining Plan?

If you are in the Residence Halls, you may NOT cancel your dining plan. The only way your dining  plan may be canceled is if you move out of housing. Note: Moving out of housing will NOT automatically cancel your dining plan.  To cancel your dining plan, please visit our Zip Card office to complete a form.  All cancellations must be received prior to the 13th week of the semester.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are not available for unused meals or dining dollars.
