Overview
The program is designed to engage students in teaching theory and teaching strategies to effectively instruct K-12 students whose first language is other than English.
Admissions Requirements
Graduate students must apply for the certificate program through the Office of Admissions. A minimum grade point average of 2.5 is required. Passage of the Ohio Assessment for Educator state assessment entitled "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages" (OAE #021) is required in order to apply for and obtain the state licensure endorsement.
Career Outcomes
This certificate is a fully online, asynchronous program for those with a K-12 teaching license who wish to add a TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) endorsement onto that teaching license.
