Research Opportunities for Undergraduates

A cornerstone of student success is student research. Below are ways you can participate in research while you are an undergraduate.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs)

Many departments provide hands-on REUs. Ask your faculty mentor or department chair about opportunities in your department, like those in:

The University of Akron Interdisciplinary Symposium (UA-IS)

The University of Akron's annual Interdisciplinary Symposium (UA-IS) allows undergraduate and graduate students to submit their scholarly and creative works as poster presentations.

Students will also have the opportunity to network with faculty members and community partners.

Collaborate with a Faculty Mentor

In addition to REUs and the UA-IS, the most important way to increase the possibility that you will be able to conduct your own independent research while in your college program is to talk with your faculty mentor early and often about research opportunities.
