Pathways to NEOMED
UA offers several pathways to Medical School:
- Early Assurance Pathway program (Formerly BS.MD) partnership with NEOMED offers up to 35 seats at NEOMED for qualifying UA students in their sophomore year. As a student in this new pathway, you would join us in Biology as an undergraduate pre-med student. You would apply for the Early Assurance Pathway during your sophomore year at UA. Successful “provisionally admitted” students would need to meet the MCAT and GPA requirements of NEOMED, and complete their B.S. at the University of Akron, then matriculate to NEOMED.
- Direct Entry is the pathway whereby students apply for admission to Medical School the summer after their junior or senior year depending on the students' proficiency in pre-requisite courses, the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), and commitment to extracurricular activities that reflect exposure to the field of medicine. Learn about NEOMED’s direct entry admissions requirements here.
